There is an old maxim in Tinsel Town averring every the man desires to create a porno.  The problem is the rating system of the Action Picture Association of America (MPAA).  The MPAA ratings committee provides a barrier.  Some call it a morality barrier, others a creative railing.  Receiving the dreaded NC-17 rating is a guaranteed expiration knoll at the box office.  The quandary then is how to make a porno with an R rating. 

 

Chief Steve McQueen has no qualms or trepidations over the NC-17 rating of his latest endeavor.  Not only did McQueen revel in the rating, but he should be obligated for it.  Without the sex scenes in SHAME , the movie is soporific.  It’s a spavined anecdote of a dysfunctional brother and sister not worth telling.
