Amendola, who has been extremely criticized for subjecting Sandusky to bizarre national interviews, once again successfully shifted the plot from the claims of the alleged victims to his client and his defense.

That could only happen by waiting until the last moment to decide to waive, said Philadelphia attorney, Tom Kline, who represents one of the victims who was predisposed to testify Tuesday.

“I would ask the rhetorical question: Is that really what was going on here today? One heavy-set news conference,” Kline said. “And I conceive of it became apparent ... that there was a strength and unity in the prosecution. The defense knew today they had a call into doubt that was insurmountable.”

With temperatures hovering around chill, Amendola, the 63-year-old State College attorney known for closing ask deals in central Pennsylvania, stood before an assemblage of reporters in honourable a suit and tie.

Occasionally complimenting reporters — one for her hat, another for her question — he smiled, made a few jokes and seemed to be enjoying himself. Ringing his hands on to keep them warm, he denied talks of a plea and subtly laid out his master plan.
